This week, Dr. Allyson Estess is headed to Fiji as a member of the Fiji Dental and Medical Foundation on their annual trip to provide medical and dental care to the islanders. She and her husband Abraham Estess, who is a local oral surgeon in the south bay, team up as part of this amazing group for a week of hard but rewarding volunteer work.
The Fiji Dental & Medical Foundation is a humanitarian nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting dental and medical health to the children and families of the Mamanaca Island chain of Fiji through prevention, education, and restoration. Last year, the team of approximately 25 members, including physicians, oral surgeons, dentists, hygienists, lab techs, and volunteers, treated over 500 patients in four days. These patients are treated with dental extractions, fluoride treatments, dental restorations, prescriptions, as well as general physical exams.
